Ganesh Gayatri Mantra

Ganesh Gayatri Mantra Lyrics:

Aum Eka-dan-taya Viddha-mahe, Vakra-tundaya Dhi-mahi,
Thanno Danthi Prachodayat

Meaning:
I offer a pray to the one with the single-tusked elephant who is omnipresent. I meditate upon and pray for greater intellect to the Lord with the curved trunk. We bow you to illuminate our minds with greater wisdom.

Ganesh Gayatri Mantra:

Version 2:
Aum Lambho-daraya viddha-mahe
maho-daraya dhi-mahi
thanno danthi prachodaya

Meaning:
Aum, Let me meditate on that god with broad paunch. Oh, God with a big belly, give me greater intellect, And let the elephant faced one illuminate my mind.

Lord Ganesh:
Lord Ganesha is one of the very prominent deities in Hinduism. Ganesha has the unique distinction that his name is always invoked before any other God's name in any prayer service. Legend has it that Lord Ganesha received this distinction as an advantage from his parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Lord Ganesha is designated as the main (-eesha) of all of Lord Shiva's ganas (servers) - hence his name, Ganesha.
We begin by having an invocation to Lord Ganesha - he of the single tusk, whose vehicle may be the mouse and he who wrote the Mahabharata with his own hands.
